Open Floor Inclusive Dance Conversations
Open Floor Inclusive Dance Conversations
Luail
In October 2025, Luail hosted a series of in-person conversations with practitioners who have lived experience of professional dance-making, participation, and advisory work in inclusive dance practice. This led to the establishment of the Open Floor programme – part of Luail’s committment to EDI.
These gatherings were an opportunity for Luail to develop a deeper understanding of inclusive dance practice on the island of Ireland, to inform and strengthen its EDI policy, and to focus its energies within its artistic programme and company operations going forward.

Through these talks, Luail has led on a number of initiatives in 2026; connecting on a deeper level with the inclusive dance community.
In early 2026, Luail established an Open Floor WhatsApp group of inclusive dance practitioners. Members are invited to share news and updates, events and other inclusive dance events with the community.
As part of its Sounding Boards | One-to-One Mentoring programme, Luail has partnered with four inclusive dance makers to share mentorship opportunities with emerging artists and arts workers.
In May, Luail supported a sharing of The Arc of a Heart Shaped Curve performed by Cindy Cummings and Sighile Hennessy with Dave Boyd, directed by Steve Batts, as part of SpringMoves Dance Festival 2026, in collaboration with Dance Deputy Vivian Brodie Hayes.
In July, Luail collaborated with Undercurrent Performance, the Sligo based dance company, and Ballina Arts Centre to share three Open Floor presentations from arts practitioners Lianne Quigley, Isolde O’Brolchain and dance artist, Helen Hall. Each spoke about their creative and embedded approaches to inclusive dance practice.
Across 2025 and 2026, Luail has been collaborating with access artist, Mo Harte to provide audio description and sensory tours for a number of Luail productions. In May 2026, Mo Harte and Helen Hall worked in collaboration as part of Luail’s access offering for The Fifth Sun, to provide audio description and a sensory and movement workshop. Luail also produces a Know Before You Go guide for attendees who wish to familiarise themselves with performances ahead of time.
Luail has been offering artists the opportunity to share their inclusive dance work through Luail’s online channels as part of Focus On. We welcome submissions from makers and organisations. Read more here.
In 2027, Luail will continue to activate its EDI Action Plan by exploring new international collaborations and will to offer better access to our productions both for artists and audiences.
