To this I Belong, film by Nicky Larkin
In 2024, Luail commissioned Nicky to follow the journey of To This I Belong: a project that shared dance with communities across the island of Ireland.
Four choreographers – one in each province – were commissioned by Luail to make site-specific works rooted in land, memory, and belonging.
Through movement, music, and landscape, the film becomes a portrait of an island in flux.
The film charts four different journeys and experiences of dance makers in their home regions and their communities: Tobi Omoteso in Limerick, Lucia Kickham in Wexford, Edwina Guckian in Leitrim and Dylan Quinn in Fermanagh.
To this I Belong premiered at Docs Ireland in Belfast in June 2026, opened at Galway Film Fleadh in July, and was shown at IFI in Dublin.
Funders: The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, and to partners Maiden Voyage Dance, Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick, and to project mentor Rosemary Lee.
