Sounding Boards One-to-One Mentoring
Sounding Boards One-to-One Mentoring
Developed through a partnership between Luail – Ireland’s National Dance Company and Crash Ensemble as part of Luail’s Moving in Collaboration Programme, Sounding Boards | One-to-One Mentoring has been created to support emerging artists and arts workers through one-to-one conversations with experienced practitioners working across dance, music, and the wider arts sector.
The programme brought together 31 mentors from across the Luail organisation, including resident artists, dance deputies, the ensemble, and staff teams, alongside leadership and composers from Crash Ensemble and four inclusive dance practitioners. Through these connections, participants can engage with practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds and areas of expertise.
Through free one-to-one online mentoring sessions and follow-up conversations, participants were invited to ask questions, test ideas, reflect on working practices, and gain insight into different career pathways. Whether seeking practical advice, creative feedback, professional guidance, or a space to discuss ideas and ambitions, the programme is designed to support open conversation, shared learning, and meaningful exchange.
Each mentor supported two participants through a 60-minute online session, followed by a 30-minute follow-up session. While mentors provide initial dates for meetings, these dates are flexible and can be rescheduled once participants have secured their place.
Today, Sounding Boards stands as an opportunity for emerging artists and arts workers to connect with experienced practitioners, fostering dialogue, reflection, and exchange across dance, music, and the wider arts sector.
