Bridging
Bridging
Bridging takes its name from the Living Bridge outside the Irish World Academy, UL.
In October 2024, Amir Sabra shared his work Bridging, at the Irish World Academy at UL. The piece was then shown at Dance Cork Firkin Crane at the Take Off Festival, and also at Dance Limerick as part of What Next Festival in 2025.
This piece was created in collaboration with the students from the MA in Contemporary Dance Performance at the Irish World Academy, UL, choreographer Amir Sabra with composer Rossa Ó Snodaigh and members of Kíla.
From the dancers’ first step into the space, until their final movement on the ground, Bridging explores the Palestinian traditional dance, Dabke with Irish traditional music and contemporary dance forms; bringing different worlds of art and dance together.
Bridging was originally commissioned by Luail – Ireland’s National Dance Company, to mark its foundational partnership with the Irish World Academy of Music at Dance at University Limerick in 2024.
