In the Studio with Luke Murphy

12 November 2024

A cornerstone of our mission at Luail is the research and development of new dance works by practicing artists working across the island of Ireland. One of our first R&D artists, Luke Murphy, spent 10 days in December 2024 in the studio, introducing the group to his artistic approaches, ways of working and performing, and developing new ideas and material.

Over this period, Luke spent time examining and interrogating ideas around art, its function, its value, and its use. At this early stage, the work observes a fictional gallery space over forty years, imagining the life of a new acquisition, how it is seen and cared for, what it offers, and how its relevance changes across time.
